Girls’ Basketball Districts Tip Monday (With Predictions)

The second season tips off Monday for girls’ basketball teams as District open around the area. We have the schedule and prediction for the four area districts.

In Division 2, Chelsea (19-1) opens against Onsted (13-7) at Onsted at 7:00 PM. The winner will get Tecumseh (13-6) at 7:00 Wednesday. Adrian (8-12), Milan (6-14), and AA Gabriel Richard (7-10) are all on the other side of the bracket. The championship is Friday at 7:00. Chelsea’s biggest competition should come from Tecumseh in the second round. The Bulldogs beat them twice in very close games in the regular season. To beat a team three times is difficult to do. PREDICTION: CHELSEA

Manchester (14-5) will take part in the Division 3 district at Napoleon. They open with East Jackson (2-17) Monday at 5:30 PM. The Winner will face Michigan Center (17-3) Wednesday at 5:30 PM. Grass Lake (19-1), Columbia Central (14-5), and Napoleon (3-13) are all in the other side of the bracket with the championship Friday at 7:00 PM. Manchester is in one of the toughest districts in the state with two state-ranked teams in Center and Grass Lake which knocked of D4 #1 Lenawee Christian last week. Even with one upset, the Dutch will have to pull off to major upsets. PREDICTION: GRASS LAKE

Dexter (9-10) will open the D1 district at Brighton Wednesday at 7:00 against the winner of Brighton (18-2) and Pinckney (5-14). The other side of the bracket includes South Lyon (5-14), South Lyon East (12-7), and Ann Arbor Skyline (2-17). The championship game is Friday at 7:00. If Dexter could pull off the big upset of likely opponent of 10th ranked Brighton, they could have a shot as the surprise winner of the district as they did in 2018. PREDICTION: BRIGHTON

Saline (14-6) will open its D1 district play Wednesday at Ann Arbor Pioneer at 5:00 against the winner of Ann Arbor Huron (11-9) and Belleville (3-16). The other side of the bracket includes Ypsilanti (12-8), Ypsi Lincoln (1-18), and Ann Arbor Pioneer (16-4). Saline hopes to make the surprise run that the boys’ team did last week and knocking off the Ann Arbor schools they struggled with in the regular season. PREDICTION: PIONEER
