From the opening tip Tuesday night a hot shooting Saline girls basketball team was on fire as the Hornets rolled to a 72-44 win over visiting Dexter.
The Hornets nailed ten three-pointers on the night, including five by senior Nicole Sweetland as Saline jumped out to an early 12-0 lead and cruised to the win.
When they weren’t hitting the triples, the Hornets were making the extra pass each time down the court, finding the open person for an easy basket underneath.
Sophomore Ella Stemmer scored 17 first half points to help Saline jump to a commanding 38-19 halftime lead.
The lead would grow to over 30 in the third quarter behind the three-point shooting of Sweetland, who hit three triples in the quarter for a 59-27 lead.
Dexter would rally a bit in the fourth, but they could not overcome the high scoring pair of Stemmer and Sweetland who finished with 23 points and 19 points respectively
Sydney Pnacek led the Dreadnaughts with nine points, followed by Kylee Niswonger seven. Kylie Cabana added six points, Kyleigh Valentine and Kaila Simpson five each, Livvy Mellifont four, Kayla Rivers and Alayna Babut three each, and Kendall Rosevelt two.
