Editor’s note: In its May 15, 2024, edition, the Sun Times News included a special “Discover Tecumseh” section. It contains articles describing many of the businesses and community life in this charming town. We’re running the articles online and encourage you to add a trip to Tecumseh to your list of fun things to do this summer.

Allison Skeels, a seasoned licensed massage therapist with 23 years of experience, owns Inner Wisdom, a therapeutic clinic renowned for its innovative approach to physical and emotional healing. Starting out in Adrian, Skeels moved her practice during the pandemic to a quieter location in Tecumseh, setting a foundation for what has become a cornerstone in holistic therapy.

Inner Wisdom is distinguished by its focus on cranial sacral therapy, a method Skeels describes as “a light touch therapy that deals with the central nervous system.” This technique, she explains, is particularly effective for trauma relief and addressing both physical and emotional discomforts. “It gets in under the defense mechanisms of your body, so it works really well,” Skeels notes, highlighting its broad therapeutic reach.

The clinic serves a diverse clientele from Saline, Ann Arbor, Clinton, and beyond, drawing people who seek specialized care in areas such as surgery rehabilitation and mental health issues like anxiety and depression. Skeels and her colleague Dr. Andrea Sweet are certified in pediatric cranial sacral therapy, offering vital support for children with autism or sensory processing disorders.

Inner Wisdom has received high praise for its effective treatment modalities and compassionate care. Patients frequently report significant improvements in coping skills and a better ability to manage triggers that could lead to relapses.

In her own words, Skeels reflects on the journey and the philosophy driving her practice, saying, “Cranial sacral therapy is very much healing from the core. You’re doing quite a bit of full body because you’re affecting the brain and the nervous system.” This holistic approach encapsulates the essence of Inner Wisdom, where healing is viewed as an interconnected process of mind and body rejuvenation.
