John C. Erskine

At age 82, passed away on Wednesday, April 3, 2019 in Chelsea, Michigan. He was born July 27, 1936 the son of Henry and Vera (Stanchfield) Erskine in Ann Arbor, Michigan. 

He was the owner of Erskine Welding in Ann Arbor, MI from 1972-1996 a company his father started in 1952. He was a charter member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Chelsea. He enjoyed spending time on Lake Michigan, taking long drives in his car, dancing, and fishing. He was a veteran in the U.S. Army.

November 5, 1954, he married Ardala (Hersch) Erskine, and she preceded him in death on January 23, 2013. Surviving are his four children: Cynthia Burch, John (LeAnna) Erskine, Tamera (Bill) Dawson, Karie (Michael) Bologna, 21 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; one brother, Jeff (Shelly) Erskine, and brother-and sisters-in-law: Janice Sundstrum and Joanne Erskine. 

He was also preceded in death by his parents, son, Michael Erskine, two grandchildren, Eric and Ashley, and a great-granddaughter, Raelynn.

A funeral service will take place Friday, April 12, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. from the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Chelsea with Bishop Doug Wrathall officiating. Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery in Saline. The family will receive friends at Staffan-Mitchell Funeral Home, Chelsea, on Thursday from 6-8 p.m.
