Do you like working with younger children? Enjoy cooking and have basic kitchen knowledge? Join Chelsea Community Kitchen this summer during the kids cooking programs as a volunteer camp teacher aid. You can work half-days or the full day; one day or all. Anyone entering ninth grade and up is eligible to participate as a volunteer. Teacher aid volunteers for all dates are needed.
This summer Kids Cooking Camp will focus on “Starting the Day Right – Healthy Breakfasts You’ll Love!” Teacher aids, along with the instructor, will help participants to gain hands-on experience with basic cooking skills and safe kitchen practices to foster confidence in the kitchen and have fun with cooking. Teacher aid volunteers are also needed for the Summer Chef’s Club. Volunteers will help older youth to experience in-depth cooking techniques and knowledge, including a restaurant or farm field trip. This summer’s theme will be Italian cuisine made with fresh, seasonal ingredients. Aids will also help with set-up and clean-up for each session.
Kids Cooking Camp is Monday, July 30 through Friday, August 3 from 8:30am-12:30pm for grades 1-3, and 12:30-4:30pm for grades 4-6.
The Summer Chef’s Club takes place Wednesday, August 8 through Friday, August 10 with three class sessions; 8:30am-12:30pm for grades 7-9, and 12:30-4pm for grades 7-9.
Classes take place at Chelsea First United Methodist Church, 128 Park St., Chelsea, MI 48118
