The Manchester Lady Dutch soccer team added three more wins last week, defeating Clinton, Blissfield, and Monroe all at home.
On Apr. 30 the Lady Dutch won 8-0 against Clinton and on May 2, they won 4-0 against Blissfield.
Against Blissfield, sophomore midfielder Natalie Bargardi got Manchester on the board first, finishing a pass from freshman Kayla Ridenour with 19:34 remaining in the first half, a shot that the keeper couldn’t save while diving to her left.
After taking the 1-0 lead into halftime the Lady Dutch struck quickly after the break, Liz Mrocko scored off a corner kick from sophomore center back Mikayla Ball under four minutes into the half.
Less than three minutes after that, sophomore midfielder Rylee Spitler found junior midfielder Rayna Edwards in the box, who slotted a shot past the keeper for the 3-0 lead.
Bargardi scored her second of the game with 16:54 remaining before the game was called due to weather.
The Lady Dutch wrapped up the week with an 8-0 victory over Monroe on Apr. 4., with Bargardi (3), junior midfielder Hannah Woods (2), junior forward Avery Collins, Spitler, and Ball all notching goals.
“It was great to come out and rebound from two tough losses over the weekend as well as not play three full-length games to regain as much rest as possible,” said Lady Dutch head coach Travis Baker. “Obviously taking three clean sheets on the week is huge going into Grass Lake on Monday and to do so without two starters all week is even better. We were able to get some other players some key minutes and try some players in a few spots, switch shapes, and just overall gain more confidence heading into a key week for us in the Independent Soccer League (ISL).”
