Maureen LaFontaine attributes her success to the team and said the one she has in Dexter is one of the best.
LaFontaine was honored on Oct. 25, with an award from General Motors for Women in Retail Network. Surrounded by the staff of LaFontaine Chevrolet of Dexter, LaFontaine said she was humbled by the honor.
“This team is really hard working and committed,” she said. “They are good people, so it really is a team award.”
Each year, the Women in Retail Network recognizes two dealers per region who earned the highest scores for the past year. The dealership, which was cofounded by LaFontaine, score was based on a dealer’s sales effectiveness, customer satisfaction, capitalization and profit.
According to GM Diversity Dealer Relations’ website, the GM Women’s Retail Network is comprised of women dealers, staff and stakeholders working together to improve dealer quality and is dedicated to increasing the female presence in the automotive industry.
LaFontaine was awarded for the highest dealer performance summary score in the North Central Region with retail sales greater than 350 units. The region includes such states as Ohio, Indiana, Michigan and Wisconsin.
“This is a big deal to be able to achieve this,” WRN spokeswoman Holly Martin said. “Maureen is a leader in this industry.”
On the same day the WRN presented the award, the Dexter LaFontaine was also honored with the GM Mark of Excellence Award is an accomplishment reserved for only a select few outstanding Chevrolet dealerships and is a symbol of extraordinary performance in sales and customer satisfaction excellence.
“This again is a team award,” LaFontaine said. “I’ve just helped to make sure the right tools are in the right place for the dealership to succeed. This is a 100 percent team effort.”
