Late Rally Lifts Bulldogs Past Tecumseh

The Chelsea baseball team took control of the SEC White after finishing a three-game sweep of Tecumseh Wednesday with a 4-1 win.

The Bulldogs stand at 14-1 in the White, with Dexter in second at 8-4 and Tecumseh dropped to 9-6.

Chelsea took a 1-0 lead in the first with an RBI single by Hunter Neff that drove in Joe Taylor and Tecumseh tied it in the bottom of the first with a home run to make it 1-1.

Both teams had scoring chances over the next four innings with multiple runners on base, but neither could break the tie.

Chelsea went on top in the sixth when Parker Shaw was hit by a pitch. He advanced to second on a sacrifice bunt by Quinn Starkey and scored on a two-out single by Owen Brown.

RBI singles by Gavin Bell and Shaw made it 4-1 in the seventh and Bell set the Indians down in order in the bottom of the seventh for the complete game win.

Bell struck out one and spread six hits out over seven innings of work.

Brown and Neff each had two hits and an RBI, while Bell and Shaw each had a hit and RBI.

Chelsea will take on winless Ypsilanti in a three-game series next week.
