LIMA TOWNSHIP BOARD OF TRUSTEES

SYNOPSIS OF MEETING MINUTES

January 9, 2017



CALL TO ORDER:  The meeting was called to order by Supervisor Maier at 7:00 pm. and opened with the Pledge of Allegiance.  Present was Supervisor Maier, Clerk Bater, Treasurer Havens, and Trustees Laier and Luick.  Also present were many residents and guests. AGENDA APPROVAL: Trustee Luick moved, supported by Laier to approve the agenda as amended – under Old Business, adding: Discussion of Bike Path.  Motion carried

MINUTES APPROVAL:  Laier moved, supported by Luick to approve the minutes of the Regular Meeting of December 12, 2016.  Motion carried

PUBLIC COMMENT: None

TREASURER’S REPORT:  As submitted.

OLD BUSINESS:

Ordinance Enforcement of Flags and Yard Signs – Moved by Maier, supported by Laier to allow Catered Coffee to display a maximum of three flag signs for a period of six (6) months starting February 1, 2017 and upon review from the Board may be granted an extension.  Motion carried with one nay.

Bike Path Discussion – Trustee Luick led the discussion as many concerned residents joined in.  As it became clear that there were more questions than answers regarding the bike path route, the Boland right-of-way, and the rights of property owners adjacent to the purposed bike route Supervisor Maier ended the discussion declaring that he would make contact with the Road Commission to see what they have on official file.

NEW BUSINESS:

Future Work Session with City of Chelsea regarding Wolf Property (N. Freer Road) 425 Agreement  – Monday, January 30, 2017, 6:00 pm at the Lima Township Hall

Lima Township CAFA At-Large Alternate Board Positon – Supervisor Maier stated that he had spoken with Ron Howdyshell at length and he was extremely interested in the position. He went on to say that Ron would do a very good job representing the Township.  Maier moved, supported by Laier to recommend Ron Howdyshell as the Lima Township nominee for the CAFA At-Large Alternate Board Position.  Motion Carried

APPROVAL of ACCOUNTS PAYABLE:  Laier moved, supported by Luick to pay bills as presented in the amount of $16,389.52.  Motion carried.

APPROVAL OF PAYROLL:  Maier moved, supported by Laier to process payroll as presented in the amount of $8,931.70.  Motion carried.

COMMITTEE REPORTS: As given

CLOSED SESSION TO DISCUSS PENDING LITIGATION: Maier moved, supported by Laier to enter into closed session to discuss pending litigation with Township Attorney, Victor Lillich at 8:17.  Motion carried.

Bater moved, supported by Laier to come out of closed session at 9:07 pm.  Motion carried.

Maier moved, supported by Laier to instruct, Township Attorney Victor Lillich, to proceed with superintending control regarding the pending litigation.  Motion carried

PUBLIC COMMENT: NONE

ADJOURNMENT: Moved by Laier, supported by Luick to adjourn at 9:10 p.m.  Motion carried.
