Community News

100 Women Who Care-Chelsea Area Membership is expected to donate $10,300 to Michigan Foster Care Closet from their June Impact Award Meeting on Tuesday, June 4, 2024.

The meeting was held at St. Louis Center, Chelsea, and kicked off with an interactive networking hour, where members and guests mingled with each other while connecting with local sponsors. Following the networking hour, members listened to pitches from three randomly selected nonprofits including the Chelsea Education Foundation, Michigan Foster Care Closet, and the Encore Musical and Theatre Company. The nonprofits were asked to make their best case for the Winter Impact Award. Following all three presentations, members cast their ballots.  Michigan Foster Care Closet, nominated by member Amy Forehand received the most votes and was the recipient of the evening’s Impact Award, which exceeded $10,000.

“We are absolutely thrilled about the generous donation, which will help cover operational costs and programming,” said Jennie Sharp, Director, Michigan Foster Care Closet. “Thanks to this support, we can continue to provide essential items and resources, free of charge, to children in foster care, helping them feel more confident and boosting their self-esteem. By investing in these young lives, we are fostering a sense of dignity and hope for their futures, and strengthening our entire community.”
