On Nov. 6, the state of Michigan approved Proposal 18-1, which legalized recreational marijuana and created the Michigan Regulation and Taxation of Marihuana Act (MRTMA),

Now, each community is required to decide if it is going to allow or prohibit state-licensed recreational marihuana establishments. This has led to local governments trying to figure out where those new laws would interact with existing medical marijuana laws.

Manchester voted on Nov. 19 to opt out of medical marijuana in the village. Village Manager Jeff Wallace brought similar ordinances from other local areas to the meeting and will have the village lawyers draft something more concrete before the next council meeting pertaining to an ordinance for the village.
