Manchester Softball Splits With Vandercook Lake

The Manchester Lady Dutch Softball team split a double header hosting the Vandercook Lake Jayhawks on Wednesday, Apr. 25.

In game one the Lady Dutch allowed too many runs early and couldn’t mount a late comeback, losing 7-5. Although they outhit the Jayhawks 11-9, they also had 5 errors to 0 for the Jayhawks.

Elizabeth O’Hotzke led the team going 4-4 and Mackenzie Pietrzyk added three hits to lead the Lady Dutch offense.

Hailey Blumenauer

took the mound in game one, going all seven innings and notching 11 strikeouts.

In the second game, the Lady Dutch won 9-5, against outhitting the Jayhawks 11-8.

Mallory DuRussel led the team with four hits and four RBIs, singling in all her at bats. The Lady Dutch jumped out to an early 4-2 lead after the first inning and wouldn’t give it up.

O’Hotzke was on the mound in game two for the win, allowing eight hits and striking out three.
