The Manchester Lady Dutch Softball team hosted the Sand Creek Aggies on May 7 for a doubleheader before traveling to Hanover-Horton on May 9 to take on the Comets.
May 7 the Lady Dutch split the series with the Aggies, winning the first game 9-3 before losing the second game by the same score.
Manchester scored three in the first inning after Hayley Blumeneauer scored two runs to follow a single. The Lady Dutch would score three again in the fourth inning.
Blumenauer went 2-3 and McKenna Good went 2-4 with an RBI and one run scored.
Mallory DeRussel took the win with a complete game and five strikeouts, only allowing four hits.
May 9 the Lady Dutch traveled to the home of the Comets, sweeping them in a double header, 6-1 and 9-3.
In game one neither side could muster a run until the fourth inning where the Lady Dutch outscored the Comets 2-1, they added four runs in the next inning to take the 6-1 win.
Taryn Fether started the fifth inning off with a double, Elizabeth O’Hotzke doubled on a line drive to center and score Fether on the next at bat.
Jayden Humphrey walked next putting her on first and O’Hotzke still on third, Blumenauer stepped up to the plate and singled on a line drive to right field to advance Humphrey to third with O’Hotzke scoring. Mallory DeRussel was up to bat next and grounded out to second, scoring Humphrey.
The Lady Dutch scored their last run in the inning on an error.
Blumenauer pitched the complete game, finishing with 12 strikeouts.
In game two the bats stayed hot for Manchester as the team scored nine runs on 12 hits in the 9-3 victory.
The Lady Dutch scored two or more runs in three innings while only allowing single runs in the first, fifth, and sixth innings.
Mackenzie Pietrzrk went 3-4, and Fether, Humphrey, and Gillian Bross all went 2-4.
O’Hotzke took the win on the mound in game two for the Lady Dutch, pitching the complete game finishing with six strikeouts.
Manchester hosted an Invitational on May 12, stats were not provided at time of publication.
