The Manchester Lady Dutch Softball team was in action this week, first traveling to take on the Napoleon Pirates on Wednesday, April 18 and traveling to Chelsea High School to take on the Bulldogs Friday, April 20.

Manchester split the doubleheader with the Pirates, winning the first game 9-2 and dropping a close second game, 10-9.



Lady Dutch shortstop Jayden Humphrey led the team in game one going four for four. She had hits in the first, third, fifth, and seventh. In the fifth inning, she hit a home run and her double in the seventh inning was part of a three-run seventh inning for Manchester.

Third baseman Mallory DuRussell knocked the other homer of the day for the Lady Dutch in the fifth inning.

Manchester pitcher Hayley Blumenauer earned the win on the mound, she had six strikeouts in seven innings.

In game two the bats were active again for the Lady Dutch as they came up just short, falling 10-9. They used a late push that included a 5-run sixth inning to take a 9-7 lead.

The Pirates would tie the game in the seventh and won in extra innings. The Lady Dutch outhit the Pirates (12-8) but also committed one more error (6-5).
