Manchester Volleyball 3-0 at Home Quad

The Manchester volleyball team showed the area that it will be a force in the state tournament after going 3-0 in a home quad against some much larger competition Thursday night.

The Division 3 Dutchman swept all three match against two Division two and a Divison 1 school.

Manchester opened by sweeping a pair of games against Columbia Central, including a marathon second game that the Dutch pulled out 31-29.

They then took a pair from Jackson Northwest 25-16, 25-23 to set up a showdown with Division 1 Dexter who was also 2-0 on the night.

Dexter took an early lead, but the Dutch reeled off four straight points to take a 16-14 lead forcing a Dreadnaught timeout.

The Dreadnaughts tied it up at 16, but the Dutch would pull away, scoring six of the next seven points for a 23-17 lead and won the set 25-17.

Manchester then jumped out to an early 9-4 lead in the second set to force a Dreadnaught timeout.

The lead grew to 17-10 and the Dutch would finish the sweep 25-16.

Manchester will return to action Tuesday at Addison
