The Manchester Lady Dutch Volleyball team picked up another Cascades conference win on Sept. 18, hosting the Hanover-Horton Comets and defeating them in straight sets, 29-27, 25-12, and 25-17.
In the first set, the Comets took a lead early forcing a Manchester timeout. Later in the set Manchester forced the Comets to take a timeout of their own after they stormed back to take the lead.
The Comets took a timeout trailing 23-21 and would battle back to tie the game at 23. Each set is played to 25 with, but you must win by two. After the teams were tied at 25 a piece both traded point until the Manchester was able to score two in a row, the first a spike from senior Jayden Humphrey to make it 28-27, followed by an ace from Humphrey to win the set.
Manchester cruised in the remaining two sets, with the Comets only make a small push too late in the third set.
Junior Alyssa Darr led the team with four aces, Humphrey led the team with 22 kills and three blocks, sophomore Kayla Ridenour had 29 assists to lead the team while senior libero Kate Pohs led the team in digs with 10.
Manchester is in action next tomorrow hosting a quad against Michigan Center, Hudson, and Whitmore Lake.
