Synopsis of Action of the Dexter Township Board of Trustees

Regular Board Meeting August 20, 2019

Called to order at 7:00 PM

Members Present: Supervisor Rider, Clerk Ceo, Treasurer Brushaber, Trustees Compton, Drolett, and Gajewski.

Absent: Trustee Mesko, with notice.

Supervisor’s Remarks: Supervisor Rider received an email from Ben Fineman, President of Michigan Broadband Cooperative asking Dexter Township to consider a letter of support for a grant application by Comcast.  A response is needed by August 26, 2019.

Call to the Public:  None

Oral Reports: Trustee Compton, Broadband Committee Chair, advised the Washtenaw County Board of Commissioners authorized Washtenaw County Broadband Task Force to send out a survey to our residents to identify the underserved areas within our Township. The Township Broadband Committee with the assistance of David Rohr, Director of Zoning and Planning, has updated our map of household with and without broadband.  Trustee Compton, Western Washtenaw Recycle Authority Chair, advised the State would announce in September if WWRA received the grant for a new garbage truck. Supervisor Rider advised A.R. Brouwer representative expects to have the cost information finalized for the sidewalk project.

The Board took the following action: Approved the Agenda for August 20, 2019 Regular Board meeting adding under Reports, Western Washtenaw Recycling Authority report and under New Business, Comcast Broadband grant; Approved the minutes from the July 16, 2019 Regular Board meeting; Approved the minutes from the August 13, 2019 Special Board meeting; Approved the letter of support for the Comcast grant application.

Board also authorized payment of: General Fund bills totaling $51,064.37, Fire Fund bills totaling $65,282.12, Police Fund bills totaling $46,527.27, Agency Fund bills totaling $2,317.00 and gross monthly payroll of $36,317.79.

Second Call to the Public: Linda Singer, Silver Lake resident, was concerned with the lack of response from the Sheriff’s department on data collected from the speed measuring device which was placed on Dexter Townhall Road and asked for the Board’s assistance.

The meeting was adjourned at 7:39 p.m.
