The end of October can only mean one thing for high school football fans….PLAYOFFS.

The MHSAA will announce 256 teams for the 2019 playoffs Sunday night on Fox Sports Detroit.

As of this week Four of five local schools have already qualified for the Playoffs with Chelsea, Dexter, Pinckney, and Saline all qualifying with at least six wins. Manchester is sitting at five wins and needs a win Friday night to qualify.

A well known website Snooze2you.com projects the 256 team field each week starting in week 4 of the season. The website divides the teams into divisions based on size and then divides them into regions based on area. The accuracy of his projections are nearly spot on when the MHSAA announces its selections on Sunday night.

Despite being in, teams still have a lot to play for Friday night.

Snooze2you released his last midweek projection before the selection show tonight. All projections are not final and will not be until the MHSAA announces the brackets Sunday night. These projections are also based that all the “favorites” win their games on Friday night.

Chelsea is pretty much assured at least two home games and a win Friday against Skyline will probably lock up a third home game as long as they keep winning.

The Bulldogs are projected to drop to Division 4 like last season, but look to be in a tough region with #5 ranked Milan and #1 ranked Detroit Country Day both in it.

Dexter is projected to have its first ever home playoff game with a rematch with SEC White foe Jackson in Division 2, which would be a huge accomplishment for the Dreadnaughts. If the projection is right, the Dreadnaughts could have a long trip to Battle Creek for a 2nd round game.

With a win Friday, Saline is projected to a two seed and would have a first round home game.

Pinckney would be a three seed in Division 3 with a road trip to Flint Kearsley if the projections stand.

Manchester’s record stands at 5-3 and a win locks them in, but Snooze2you has them getting in at 5-4, but that is not a risk the Dutchmen will want to make.

While the projections are fun to watch throughout the season, these are not set in stone until Sunday night when the new season will begin with games starting November 1 and 2.
