Passed away at age 39, on June 27, 2018 at his home, of natural causes. He was born August 25, 1978 in Ann Arbor, MI the son of Michael and Terri (Simmons) Thayer.
He had lived in Fayetteville since 2006, moving from the Chelsea area. He was a 1996 Chelsea High School graduate and was an 18-year veteran of the military, serving in both Navy and Army, retiring from the Army as Staff Sergeant.
Michael loved all things Detroit, Ann Arbor, and was a U of M sports fan. He enjoyed music, especially 60s and 70s rock and roll, and artists like Iggy Pop and Rolling Stones.
He married Emily J. Anderson, and she survives. Also surviving are his mother and father of Chelsea, two siblings Kelly Thayer of Ann Arbor and Philip Thayer of Chelsea; his grandparents Carl and Shirley Thayer of Ann Arbor, Maxine Simmons of Ann Arbor, many beloved aunts, uncles, and cousins, and in-laws John and Geraldine Anderson of Chelsea.
Visitation will take place from the Staffan-Mitchell Funeral Home on Thursday, July 5, 2018 from 6-8 p.m. A private burial will take place at a later date.
