Changes are coming to the closed down Fillmore Bar & Grill, starting with its name.
The restaurant in downtown Dexter closed late last year and was eventually sold to a new ownership team. The Sun Times News (STN) was able to speak with the new owners about the plan for the location that for years has been a place to eat in various forms, from Cousins Heritage Inn to Terry B’s and the Fillmore.
The new restaurant will be called “42 North Social House.”
The ownership team expressed to STN that at this time they would like to stay more in the background and working behind the scenes, so in keeping with this, they would rather be referred to as “two local investors.”
They said they are still working through the permitting process with the building department and city, but the plan is coming together.
The new chef is John Fischer, who brings with him a lot of experience from places like Common Grill and Gratzi. The ownership team said the menu will lean a bit toward seafood, but it will have a broad range of selections that will include various healthy options and daily specials. As far as costs, the ownership team said they are keeping prices in mind and do not want to price themselves out because they want their new restaurant to be a great place for locals and visitors to town.
The interior of the building is getting an extensive remodel, especially cosmetically. Some things specifically being addressed is the sound inside and the bar, which will be reconfigured to possibly seat a few more.
The owners said they’re excited about the menu, the changes and what they hope to bring to the community. They said 42 North Social House will be elevated dining.
Hesitant to set an opening date just yet, the owners said their goal is August, hopefully by Dexter Daze, which is now known as the Dexter Summer Festival. However, because they are still working their way through the permitting process that date is not for sure just yet.
So stay tuned…
