The Village of Pinckney will celebrate the Irish holiday with their with their 11th annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade.
Restaurants will be serving Irish dishes, bagpipes will be playing and there will be a lot of people wearing green, said Michelle Brunner, secretary and treasurer for the village. There will be something for everyone, she said. Brunner said she’s looking forward to the bed race contest.
“A bed running down the street, come on,” she said. “How can it not be funny.”
Contestants customize a bed on wheels, and have one person on the bed with another pushing. This year, the Village of Pinckney, Putnam Township Fire Department and Pinckney Pub will be participating, she said.
More synonymous with the holiday, will be some Irish food. Aunt Betty’s Restaurant will be serving Reuben and Swiss omelettes, she said. The Pinckney Pub will be serving Irish stew and other restaurants will be serving iconic Irish dishes, said Brunner.
Brunner said she is just hoping the weather will be good. One meteorologist seems pessimistic and another seems optimistic, she said.
