Pinckney Track Teams Run Well at Regionals





The Pinckney boys’ and girls’ track teams took part in Division 1 Regional at Milford last week and had several athletes qualify for the D1 State Finals at Hudsonville June 3.

The boys’ finished 5th and the girls’ 11th at the event.

Emmett Smrcka and Brandon Wiese qualified in four events each to lead the Pirates.

Wiese came away with second place finishes in the 110 and 300 hurdles. He was also part of the 4×200 realy team that finished second along with Connor Showich, Smrcka, Wieses, and Connor Wolschleger; and the 4×400 team with Showich, Smrcka, and Grayson Kelly.



Smrcka qualified in the 800 and was part of the 4×800 team alone with Austin Wicker, Kyle Hamilton, and Aaron Jarema.

Ryan Talbott and Wicker qualified in the 3200.

The girls’ 4 x 800 Relay team of Maggie Rapp, Allie Hartstang, Noelle Adriaens, and Abby Hackett qualified for the Pirates.

All Region Honors for the girls’ went to all -Region honors were

Isabella Garcia in the 3200, just missing state by .03 second and finishing 7th in a very competitive field. Maddie Haas took 8th place in the 1600 with a time of 5:34.10. Nicole Burcon in the high jump with 4’10 jump clean to finish in a tie for 6th place, Catherine Stone in the 300 hurdles ran 49.43 season best time to take 8th place. Maggie Rapp missed state in the 800 by .03 to take 7th place.
