Pancheros Mexican Grill Hosts Queso for a Cause Event

ANN ARBOR, Mich. – Pancheros fans in Pittsfield Township, situated at 3155 Ann Arbor-Saline Rd., can enjoy their queso with a greater purpose as the restaurant hosts its “Queso for a Cause” fundraising event in support of Nathaniel Burrell on March 8.

Pancheros in Pittsfield Township will donate all proceeds from 10:30 a.m. to 11 p.m. on Friday, March 8 from the sales of extra queso, extra guac, extra meat, chips and queso, and chips and guac to support Nathaniel Burrell, an 18-year-old who was diagnosed with Stage 4 alveolar rhabdomyosarcoma cancer in September of 2017. In order to save his life, Nathaniel must seek treatment outside of the United States and needs donations from the community in order to fund the trip and the cost of treatment.

“As a local business, it’s an honor to be able to play a part in supporting Nathaniel in his brave fight against alveolar rhabdomyosarcoma,” said Brad Turowski, owner of Pancheros in Pittsfield Township. “This Queso for a Cause event will give our local Pancheros fans the opportunity to rally together as a community in support of Nathaniel and his loved ones.”

Proceeds donated from the Queso for a Cause event will be used to cover airfare for Nathaniel and his father to travel to Hannover, Germany for lifesaving treatments as well as local travel, lodging, food, medicine and treatment expenses.

Through its brand-wide commitment to the communities it serves, Pancheros created Queso for a Cause as a system-wide way for its restaurants to turn the brand’s cult-favorite queso (and extras) into a national nonprofit fundraising program with a localized impact.

About Pancheros

The beginning of Pancheros dates back to 1992 when Rodney Anderson opened the brand’s first restaurant in Iowa City, Iowa. Originally modeled after the Chicago taquerias that Anderson had visited often with his friends during his teenage years, the brand’s pursuit of constructing a better built burrito launched Pancheros into an evolution based on simplicity and fresh-pressed tortillas.

Since it’s humble beginnings, Pancheros has earned a loyal following for redefining the standards of modern burritos by using fresh-pressed tortillas and perfectly-mixed ingredients with the help of BOB the Tool, a unique plastic spatula used to carefully mix ingredients together to create the perfect taste in every bite.

Amid its popularity, the brand has successfully grown from its roots and today a robust franchising program has led to 67 restaurants, with more in development.
