Chelsea City Police

12/13 ~7:17am, officers were dispatched to the area of W. Old US 12 X Gene Drive for the report of a motor vehicle crash. Upon arrival officers met with fire and medical personnel who had arrived on scene. The officer made contact with the drivers involved and at least one driver was being transported to the University of Michigan for evaluation. While speaking with the driver the 45-year-old Jackson man made a statement that indicated that he may be currently under the influence of a controlled substance which was reportedly prescribed to him. The suspect appeared to be confused about what had transpired and stated that he could not see well out of his windshield. The driver was also believed to have been involved in several other traffic incidents and crashes ranging as far away as the outskirts of Grass Lake, inside Jackson County this same morning. The officer responded to the University of Michigan emergency room where the suspect was transported and requested the driver to submit to a blood analysis to determine if he was under the influence of narcotics and if so the level of intoxication. The suspect complied with the request and the blood will be submitted to the Michigan State Police Crime Lab for analysis. The case remains open pending laboratory analysis and review by the Washtenaw County Prosecutor’s Office for potential criminal charges. 

Washtenaw County Sheriff Dexter Patrol

12/11 ~Deputies responded to the area of Territorial and Toma Road for the report of a head on crash involving two vehicles.  Upon arrival it was determined that one of the drivers was deceased and another driver was seriously injured.  The injured driver was transported to a local hospital and is considered to be in stable condition.  Washtenaw County Sheriff’s Traffic Services division is investigating the incident.
12/13 ~At approximately 9:30am, Deputies responded to the 500 Block of Plum Lane for a Burglary Report. Between 4:15am -7:30pm unknown suspects forcibly entered a shed stealing lawn and garden equipment. The suspects fled in an unknown direction. The case is under investigation.
~Approximately 1:55pm, Deputies responded to the 100 Block of Jackson Industrial Drive for a reported Bomb Threat. An unknown suspect made an email bomb threat to the business. The business was evacuated and cleared by bomb detecting K-9’s. No explosive material was found. There were no injuries. The case is under investigation.
