5/29 ~8:38am, avictim came in to the Chelsea Police Department front lobby to report that he and his estranged wife had gotten into a domestic dispute and she bit him on his arm and further assaulted him. The victim stated that he was in the process of a divorce and attempting to move out of the house when the argument began. The officers interviewed the victim and then responded to the residence in an attempt to locate the suspect and speak with her regarding the incident. Upon arriving at the house, it was determined that the suspect was no longer there. Several hours later the suspect arrived at the Chelsea Police Department and gave a full statement regarding the day’s events. The suspect, a 46-year-old Chelsea woman was placed under arrest and transported to the Washtenaw County Jail where she will be held pending prosecutor’s review. The Washtenaw County Prosecutor’s Office reviewed the case and authorized a charge of one count of Domestic Assault.

6/1 ~1:14am, officer observed a male subject striking a vehicle with a crowbar type object in a parking lot. The officer approached the subject and inquired what he was doing. The subject stated that the vehicle was his parents but he was the primary driver of the vehicle and he was trying to pop a dent out. Upon talking with the subject further and checking out his story, the officer observed a vaporizer in the front passenger compartment of the vehicle. The officer is familiar with the vaporizers and knows that they are commonly used for smoking marijuana oils, apart from their intended use of smoking nicotine oils. The officer inquired whether the vaporizer contained any marijuana because an odor of marijuana was present. The subject stated that the vaporizer was not his and was a co-worker who was inside working. The officer went inside the business and all employees denied any knowledge of the item in question. When the officer returned and told the subject that they all denied any knowledge of the vaporizer the subject changed his story and said that an unnamed friend had left it in the vehicle. The property was seized and will be submitted to the Michigan State Police Crime Lab for analysis to determine if Marijuana is present and the amount. The suspect is an 18-year-old Chelsea man and he was advised that the case would remain open pending laboratory analysis and review by the Washtenaw County Prosecutor’s Office. The suspect was released at the scene following questioning.
