Chelsea City Police

5/1 ~2pm, officer initiated a traffic for an observed traffic infraction of passing on the shoulder of the roadway. A computer check of the driver revealed that the driver, a 51-year-old Scio Township man was not a licensed driver and his license had been suspended by the Secretary of State Office. The suspect was released from the scene and the vehicle was left parked in a parking lot until a licensed driver could retrieve the vehicle. The case remains open pending warrant authorization on a charge of driving with a suspended license (2nd or more offense).

~5:39pm, Complainant came to the Chelsea Police Department to report  a larceny of a mail package from the front of his residence. The victim stated that he had ordered an item online and it was shipped via USPS and supposedly delivered to his front door on May 1, 2018. After initiating the report, the victim later learned that the package had in fact not been stolen; the package was inadvertently delivered to the wrong condominium. Case closed unfounded.



5/2 ~2:10pm, an officer responded to the 1600 block of South Main Street for the report of an unlawful entry and larceny of bedding materials. The complainant stated that over the recent days he has noticed in several of his trailers on his property there has been new bedding stolen from the trailers. The property included window coverings, pillow shams and bed spreads. A search of the wooded area adjacent to his property located several of the missing items which were secured in trash bags in an attempt to keep the property dry. The complainant stated that he believed the theft occurred in the evening hours within the last two days. Case closed pending any further information regarding a possible suspect(s) in the case.

5/6 ~2:05pm, a walk-in complaint came in regarding a stolen purse from the 300 block of North Main Street. The victim stated that she was dining at the establishment in the 300 block of North Main Street on Saturday May 5, 2018 in the later evening hours. Upon leaving the establishment the victim realized that she had left her purse. The victim called the establishment back and spoke with the waiter and he told her he had found the purse and placed it in the lost & found area. Upon returning to the establishment the following morning to retrieve the purse it was determined that the purse was no longer in the lost & found. A search of the property yielded negative results in finding the purse. The case remains open pending further interviews with the people who had access to the area where the purse was stored.

4/28 ~11300 block of Castleton Court, the victim left his utility trailer parked in the front yard of a house under construction near the roadway.  When he returned to the property he noticed that someone had come and stolen the trailer.  There are no suspects identified at this time.

4/30 ~4200 block of Eyrie Drive. The victim left his mountain bike outside of his home on the day prior.  When he came out the following morning he noticed that it was not there anymore.  The bike has not been located and no suspects have been identified as of now.

4/28 ~A report of Fraud was made in the 300 Block of Territorial Street.  A bank card was fraudulently used to obtain goods and services.  The case remains under investigation.

4/30 ~A 22yr old Tecumseh woman was arrested for Operating a Motor Vehicle while Impaired in the 700 block of Parr Street after a private property crash occurred.  She was transported to the Washtenaw County Jail pending charges.
