The Saline baseball team clinched its second straight SEC Red title after sweeping a three game series from Ann Arbor Huron this week.
Saline held off a Huron rally to take the first game 7-5 Monday.
The first seven batters reached base in the bottom of the third as Saline plated six runs with Ian Furlong and Brandon Wise collecting RBI singles.
Huron answered back with five runs in the fourth with just one hit in the inning to cut the lead to 6-5.
Saline pushed the lead to 7-5 in the sixth with a sacrifice fly by Johnny Arvai and Devin Lilley put the River Rats down in order in the seventh for the win.
Furlong finished with two hits and two RBI, while Wise and Austin Abbate each had a hit and RBI. Noah Reeves and Matt Mareno each had a hit and run scored for the Hornets.
Lilley earned the win on the mound, striking out three.
The Hornets scored in each of the first three innings and took a 6-0 win in the second game.
Wise was dominant on the mound, striking out 12 and allowing just two hits in the complete game win.
Caleb Helmer, Reeves, and Arvai each had two hits and an RBI. Reed Muir and Cole Kreuzer each had a hit and scored a run, while Hunter Easton and Colton Tousa had a hit and RBI each.
The Hornets clinched the title by cruising to a 10-0 win Wednesday.
Kreuzer tossed a four-hit complete game, striking out five for the win in the clincher.
Ian Furlong smacked a home run and finished with two hits and two RBI to lead the bats.
Caleb Helmer had two hits and an RBI, while Kreuzer helped his cause with a hit and two RBI. Tousa had two hits and an RBI, Lilley a hit and RBI, and Reeves a hit and run scored.
Saline improved to 26-4 overall and 16-1 in the SEC Red.
