Superb pitching and defense led the Saline baseball team to a three-game sweep of Ann Arbor Huron last week.
The Hornets allowed just three runs in the three games as they improved to 6-0 in the SEC Red.
Cole Daniels allowed just three hits and struck out seven in a 2-0 win in the opener.
The game was scoreless until the sixth when Ethan Collick singled home Jacob Ohren-Hoeft for a 1-0 lead. They added an insurance run in the seventh when Paul Kiyabu singled home Andrew Arbaugh.
Daniels got a double play and a strikeout in the seventh to end it.
The Hornets scored four in the fourth and two in the fifth to pull away for an 8-2 win in the nightcap.
Ohren-Hoeft and Noah Nelson each had three hits and two RBI to lead the offense. Collick and Daniels each had a hit and RBI.
Lance Blaszak earned the win with one strikeout in four innings of work.
Saline finished the sweep with a 4-1 win.
Logan Evans went the distance, striking out four and allowing two hits for the win.
Vinnie Patteri led the offense with three hits, while Collick had two hits and an RBI. Kiyabu, Daniels, and Nelson each had a hit and RBI.
Saline went to Ohio over the weekend and faced some of the Buckeye states best teams and came home with three hard losses.
The Hornets opened with a tough 11-9 loss to Tallmadge. Collick led the offense with three hits and two runs scored. Daniels had two hits and two RBI and Patteri two hits and one RBI. Alex Morrison and Cam Daniels each had a hit and RBI.
The Hornets then dropped a 7-6 decision as Kenston scored two runs in the bottom of the seventh to pull out the win.
Kiyabu picked up a pair of hits and Cole Daniels a hit and two RBI to lead the Hornets.
The Hornets finished the weekend struggling with a 6-0 loss to Strongsville. Ohren-Hoeft and Cole Daniels had the only two hits for Saline.
