Saline Boys Track Claims Red Title, Girls Second

The Saline boys; track team claimed its eighth straight SEC Red title last week by clipping Ann Arbor Pioneer 200 to 121 at the league Finals Friday.

The Hornets claimed titles in six events.

Eric Harris won the pole vault and Trevor Garbo the shot put. Anthony DeKraker won the 3200 and was part of the winning 4×800 relay team along with Cam Bacarella, Joshua Cook, and William Downey; the 4×200 team of Jack Fenelon, Winford Walker, Myles Griffin, and Christopher Chuparkoff; and Chuparkoff won the 400.

Second place finishes went to Harris in the long jump, Davis Klein high jump, 4×100 team of Harris, Nicholas Patteri, Jamari Harris-Pryce, and Griffin; DeKraker 1600, Walker 400, and Chuparkoff in the 100 and 200.

Third place finishers were Garbo in the discus, Walker 200, Fenelon 400, and the 4×400 relay team of Fenelon, Walker, DeKraker, and Bacarella.

The girls’ finished with 142 points, behind Pioneers 212.

Lauryn Hunt won titles in the 100, 200, and 400, while Jessi Larson won the 3200 and Sloane Pepper the high jump.

Second place finishers were Emily Cook in the 100 hurdles, Charlotte Peterson pole vault, the 4×200 relay of Suzanne Chuparkoff, Hunt, Amera Boyd, and Greta Downey; and the 4×800 team of Emma Cummings, Rebecca Cantrell, Larson, and Kayla Fortino.

Third place finishes went to Larson in 1600, Cook 300 hurdle, and the 4×100 team of Cook, Boyd, Downey, and Ella Bozzi.
