Saline Field Hockey Rallies Past Dexter

The Saline field hockey team picked up a big divisional win last week rallying to beat 2017 state finalist Dexter 3-2.

Erin Reilly gave the Hornets the lead in the first half, but the Dreadnaughts answered with a pair of goals for a 2-1 halftime lead.

Bridget Skelly tied the game with 11 minutes into the second half and Devin Reilly scored the game winner with eight-minute left by chipping a shot over the shoulder of the Dexter goaltender. Julia Bentley made five saves in net for the Hornets.

Saline battled to a 2-2 tie with a strong Novi team earlier in the week.

The Hornets dominated the game, outshooting Novi 26-7, but came away with just the tie.

Ali Groth scored two minutes into the game to give the Hornets the lead, but Novi answered to tie it a 1-1 at halftime.

In the second half, Hannah Jarvie put Saline back on top with an assist to Skelly, but again Novi answered, this time just three minutes later and it stayed that way until the end.
