Saline Girls’ Lacrosse Clinches SEC Title

The Saline girls’ lacrosse team finished off its perfect conference season by rolling to a pair of wins last week to clinch the SEC title.

The Hornets defeated Huron and Bedford to finish a perfect 6-0 in the conference and improve to 8-4 overall on the season.

Seven different Hornets scored in an 18-4 win over Huron.

Scoring for Saline were Kate Aeschliman, Campbell Murphy, Nora Stevenson, Anna Shingle, Carly Pufpaf, Lucy Sweeney, and Maddie Nishioka.

With the league title on the line, the Hornets showed that they were not going to overlook Bedford as they rolled to an 18-0 win over the Mules.

Gol scorers were Ava House, Aeschliman, Ayla Stager, Stevenson, Pufpaf, and Nishioka.

Saline hosted three teams for a play day Saturday and came away with a 10-2 win over Huron, 7-5 over Mattawan, and 10-6 over Holt.

The Hornets will host Flint Powers Tuesday night and open regional play Thursday at Bedford.
