Saline Girls Sixth at D1 State Finals

The Saline girls’ cross country team came home with a strong finish at the Division 1 state finals at MIS Saturday as the Hornets finished 6th out of 27 teams competing at the event.

The Hornets finished with 239 points in the meet won by Clarkston with 134. SEC Red rival Ann Arbor Pioneer was second with 152 and SEC White member Pinckney third with 206.

Kayla Fortino earned All-State Honors with a 28th place finish in 18:43 to lead the Hornets.

Madi Wood just missed All-State honors with a 34th place finish in 18:49 and was followed by Nicole Dillman in 83rd in 19:28.

Madison Stern was 87th in 19:30, Ella Woehlke 97th in 19:36, Alexa Stern 11th in 19:44, and Taylor Yaklich 142nd in 20:02.

The race featured 236 runners.
