A huge day at the SEC Red Final vaulted the Saline girls’ swim and dive team to the SEC Red Title Saturday, November 3rd.
The Hornets entered the Finals in second place in the standings behind Ann Arbor Pioneer and dominated the Finals with 666 points. Pioneer ended up finishing third in the standings at the Finals, giving the Hornets the league title outright based on points. Skyline finished second with 437 points and Pioneer third with 427;
Johanna Jorgenson had a huge day for the Hornets with four first-place finishes. She won the 50 free and 100 free, was part of the winning 200 free relay along with Emily Laing, Anna Bosinger, and Maddie Luther; and was part of the winning 400 free relay along with Luther, Kiersten Russell, and Amelia Hayes.
Luther had three wins. Along with the two relay wins, she won the 200 free.
The 200 medley relay team of Hayes, Emma Loveland, Bosinger, and Laing opened the meet by taking first. Loveland also won the 100 breast.
Second place finishes went to Laing in the 50 free, Paige Wilson the 100 fly, Hayes 100 back, and Luther 500 free.
Third place finishes went to Russell 200 IM and 100 back, Annika Olsen 50 free, and Bosinger 100 fly.
The Hornets will take part in the Division 1 State Finals at Eastern Michigan University November 16 and 17.
