Saline Girls’ Tennis Still Undefeated in SEC Red

The Saline girls’ tennis team went 2-0-1 in league matches this week and remained undefeated in conference play with a 3-0-1 and leads the conference heading into the last week.

Saline opened the week by splitting a match with Huron 4-4.

The Hornets won all the doubles matches, with Huron taking all the singles.

Aly Heider-Zoe Ellsworth won 6-4, 7-6 (4) at one-doubles, Megan Foley-Saige Jost a tough three-set win at two-doubles 6-4, 2-6, 10-3; Nina Ellsworth-Sarah Roberts 6-2, 6-2 at three-doubles; and Lindsey Barba-Brooke Engelhardt 7-5, 6-3 at four doubles.

The Hornets then swept a tri-meet with Monroe and Skyline. They defeated Monroe 7-1 and Skyline 5-3.

The only loss to Monroe was a forfeit at one doubles.

Andrea Teofilovic at one-singles and Carly Hiner at three-singles each had 6-0, 6-0 wins while Madison Caldwell won 6-1,6-0 at two-singles.

Foley/Jost won 6-0, 6-0 at two-doubles, Claire Weadock-Ashlyn Murphey 6-0,6-1 at three-doubles, and Hannah Zetterholm-Ailen Lao 6-0, 6-0 at four-doubles.

The win over Skyline was the first over the Eagles in several years.

Jenny Wolf picked up a 6-1, 6-0 win at four-singles and Teofilovic won at one-singles. Heider-Z.Ellsworth won 6-3, 6-2 at one-doubles, Foley-Jost 7-5, 6-0 at two-doubles, and Barba-Englehardt at four-doubles.
