The Saline girls’ water polo went 2-1 on the day and finished in third place at the Ann Arbor Skyline district and qualified for the regional tournament this weekend.

Saline opened with a 6-3 win over Dexter. The Hornets jumped out to a 4-0 halftime lead and held Dexter off in the second half.

Cassie Anderson, Sydney Anderson, Elizabeth Burchart, Emily Heutteman, Annika Olsen, and Eleanor Smith all scored for the Hornets.

Saline then dropped a heartbreaking 11-10 decision to Ann Arbor Huron.


Cassie Anderson scored six goals for the Hornets. Burchart, Huetteman, Olsen, and Elizabeth Solis scored one each.

The Hornets then defeated Ann Arbor Skyline 10-9 in the fourth-place match.

Cassie Anderson had another big game for the Hornets with nine goals. Olsen scored the other goal for the Hornets. Katie Wagner earned the win in net for Saline.

The Hornets will be seeded third in the Regional at Huron. They will face second seed Okemos at 5:15pm Friday.
