Saline Soccer One Step Closer to Red Title

The Saline girls’ soccer team moved one step closer to an SEC Red title last week after 3-0 win over Bedford.

The Hornets need a win over Huron this week to clinch the Red crown.

Saline celebrated Senior Night by blanking the Mules.

Sophomore Erin Reilly gave the Hornets a 1-0 lead at the half, but it was seniors that put the game away for the Hornets.

Seniors Morgan Jones and Alyssa Williams each scored a goal in the second half as the Hornets put the game away. Lauren Ruben picked up an assist, while Annika Udrys earned the shutout in net.

Saline fell to Grand Blanc 4-0 in a battle between two state-ranked teams earlier in the week.

Grand Blanc showed why they are ranked fourth in the state by jumping out to a quick 3-0 lead in the first half.

Saline showed some grit in the second half, but Grand Blanc was too much for them.
