Saline Swim and Dive Fourth at D1 Finals

The Saline mens swim and dive team had a strong showing at the D1 state finals at Holland March 9.

The Hornets finished with 148 points in the event won by Holland West Ottawa with 248. They beat out SEC Red rivals Skyline and Pioneer who both finished ahead of them in the conference.

The 200 medley team of Cole Nelson, Davis Klein, Joshua Mahaney, and Joshua Willwerth came home second and was the top finish of the day for the Hornets.

Klein finished 3rd in the 200 IM and 5th in the 100 breast to earn All-State Honors in both.

Saunders was All-State in the 100 breast with a 6th place finish and was 10th in the 200 free.

Nelson also earned All-State honors with an 8th place finish in the 100 back.

The 200 free relay team of Saunders, Willwerth, Nelson, and Blake Coy; and the 400 free relay of Willwerth, Coy, Klein, and Saunders each finished in 9th.

Coy finished 12th in the 500 free, Willwerth 14th in the 50 free, Mahaney 12th and Nelson 13th in the 100 fly.
