Saline Volleyball Sweeps Adrian on Senior Night

A special night for seven Saline volleyball seniors ended on a high note in more ways than one October 23rd as the Hornets swept Adrian 25-11, 25-17, 25-8.

Prior to the game, all seven Hornet seniors and their families were honored, but what was the highlight of the night came after the game as all the Hornets underclassmen gave the seniors a going away gift of a dance routine performed in front of the crowd.

The seven seniors that took part in their final home regular season game were Mickaley Monahan, Julianna Pena, Haley Blaney, Ellie Munn, Kathryn Wilkie, Brianna Woods, and Olivia Vance

The dance routine topped off the night in which the Hornets rolled past the Maples to a three-set win.

The first set saw Saline dominate from the start and finished was finished off by a nice tip by Pena on set point.

Adrian gave a fight in the second set a the two teams were tied at 12 apieve before the Hornets pulled away to take the set 25-17. Kathryn Wilkie ended the set with a big kill after a long volley.

The Hornets dominated the third set jumping out to a quick 12-1 lead a finished the sweep 25-8.

Vance led Saline with 14 points, three aces, two blocks, and four digs.

Woods chipped in with 13 kills, three digs, and two blocks, while Hannah Blaney had 12 digs and two aces. Julia Blaney collected seven kills and two blocks,  Monahan nine digs and two assists, Haley Blaney six digs, Pena 27 assists and five digs, and Ellie Munn 12 assists.

The Hornets will host the Division 1 district tournament next week. They will take on Ann Arbor Skyline Monday at 5:00 PM.
