The Saline volleyball team continued its hot play of late by winning its second tournament in three weeks after winning the Bloomfield Hills Invite without losing a set Saturday.
The Hornets swept through pool play, defeating Grosse Ile 25-16, 25-15; Lutheran North 25-11, 25-6; Mason 25-23, 25-21; and Royal Oak 25-3, 25-13.
They then defeated Clarenceville 25-14, 25-11 in the semifinals and took down the host Bloomfield Hills 25-16, 25-11 in the championship.
Livia Vance had a big day with 36 kills and six blocks, while Brianna Woods and Julia Blaney had 16 kills each. Kaija Sydlowski added 26 kills.
Julianna Pena ran the offense by dishing out 75 assists on the day and added six aces. Ellie Munn added 29 assists and two aces, while Sofia Peppard had seven aces and 11 digs. Hannah Blaney had 18 digs and two aces, Mickaley Monahan 33 digs, and Haley Blaney 40 digs.
Saline continued to roll over SEC Red competition with a three-game sweep of Ann Arbor Huron Tuesday night 25-13, 25-10, 25-13.
The Hornets dominated the match from the start as their record improved to 6-2 in the conference with a rout of Huron. Saline is 21-10-2 overall.
Olivia Vance was strong at the net with 13 kills and two blocks, while Brianna Woods had seven kills, and Kendal Robison six.
Haley Blaney led the Hornets with 11 digs, followed by Mickaley Monahan and Hannah Blaney seven digs each. Hannah Blaney added six aces. Julianna Pena dished out 30 assists and recorded three aces.
