In May 2024, Deputies responded to 834 calls for police service in Scio Township, up from 826 the previous year, a 1% increase. Total calls for 2024 (Jan-May) are 3,880, down from 4,100 for the same period last year, a 5% decrease.

Officers conducted 310 traffic stops, down from 313 last year. Sixty-three citations were issued.

Notable events from the police call log include:

  • Two identity thefts
  • Eight attempted suicides (all but one at the same address)
  • One suicide
  • One sudden death

The Washtenaw County Sheriff’s Offices reported the following details to Scio Township:

On May 4th, deputies were dispatched to the 3900 block of Jackson Road for three subjects walking through car lots trying door handles. Due to a time delay in reporting the subjects were gone upon deputies arrival. No suspects at this time.

On May 7th, deputies were dispatched to the 3500 block of Jackson Road for the report of a stolen vehicle (UDAA). The victim was at a dealership and left his vehicle unattended with the keys inside. A subject then took the vehicle without permission. The vehicle was later located in Ann Arbor. The case is currently under investigation.

On May 10th, deputies took a Larceny from a Vehicle report in the 1800 block of Baker Road. In the early hours of the morning, an employee arrived at work and scared off a subject attempting to break into a trailer parked on the property. There are no suspects or leads at this time.

On May 14th, a generator was taken from a construction site in the 7400 block of Jackson Road. Ypsilanti Township deputies recovered the generator during a traffic stop. Suspects have been identified, and charges have been submitted.

On May 14th a zero-turn lawnmower was stolen from a utility shed in the 200 block of Metty Drive. The theft is currently under investigation.

On May 16th a dump trailer was stolen from the 5000 block of Jackson Road. There are no suspects or leads at this time.

On May 20th, deputies assisted the Fire Department with a barn fire in the 8000 block of Marshall Road. The fire was not suspicious in nature, and no injuries were reported.

On May 24th, a utility trailer was stolen from the 600 block of Wagner Road. At this time, there are no leads or suspects.

On May 25th, deputies assisted the Fire Department in a house fire in the 2200 block of Gray Fox Court. There were no injuries, and the fire is not considered suspicious in nature.

On May 26th deputies were dispatched to a Home Invasion in the 6500 block of Jackson Road. The case is currently under investigation.

On May 28th deputies investigated an attempted Breaking and Entering of a business in the 5400 block of Jackson Road. No entry was gained. There are no suspects or leads at this time.

On May 28th, deputies investigated the theft of a plow trailer from the 500 block of Little Lake Drive. At this time, there are no suspects or leads.

On May 29th, deputies investigated the theft of a flat-bed utility trailer from the 500 block of Little Lake Drive. At this time, there are no suspects or leads.
