Season Preview: Saline Boys Basketball

Disclaimer* –  Due to a miscommunication,  previews will be coming out over the next day or two. We are aware some teams have begun their seasons already.

The Saline Boys Bbasketball team faces another year in the extremely competitive SEC Red.

Last year, the Hornets finished 13-8 overall and fourth in the SEC Red. They are looking to replace the production of senior all conference forward Emmett Turner and senior forward Eric Wenning.

Key returnees for the Hornets include a junior pair of guards , who both earned honorable mention all conference awards last season, in Griffin Yaklich and Trevor ARico. Senior guard Pete Jacobson will be another impact player.

As always, the SEC Red is a powerhouse conference loaded with all kinds of talent. A lot of division one talent,” said fourth year head coach Jake Fosdick. “A huge opportunity every single night to play against competition and you can’t have an off night in our conference.”

This year, the team has four sophomores and a freshman, and will lack the inside presence three year starter Turner had inside.

“Losing him (Turner) hurt us” said Fosdick. “We’re a more perimeter oriented team (this year). More spaced out offense. Trying to attack off the dribble instead of pounding it inside

“We’ve got a young team, it’s getting them used to the intensity of a varsity game and realizing the level of physicality every single night. I’m proud of the way they’re working and preparing and were just improving every day. That’s the best part, we’ve got guys who want to keep getting better”

The Hornets opened their season on Nov. 27
