The Chelsea girls’ soccer team saw its season come to an end in the D2 district semifinals after Adrian rallied for a pair of second half goals to take down the Bulldogs 3-2.
The game was delayed an hour and fifteen minutes after thunderstorms blew through the area as the teams were warming up before the contest.
Once the teams got going, Emma Ruszkiewicz found the net to put the Bulldogs on top 10 minutes into the game.
Adrian answered two minutes later when the Maples scored with a direct kick to make it 1-1.
The game stayed 1-1 until just over two minutes remained in the half when Grace Ratliff beat the Maples goaltender and found the twine to put the Bulldogs up 2-1 and it stayed that way until halftime.
The score remained 2-1 for the first half of the second half, but the Maples scored the equalizer with 17:44 left.
The teams went back and forth over the next 12 minutes, but it was Adrian that would break through and score with 5:39 left to take a 5:39 lead.
Chelsea did what they could but could not score the tying goal and the Bulldogs season ended with a 3-2 loss.
The Bulldogs finished the season with a 10-7 overall record.
