Senior Center rental agreement with Encore Music Theatre

With the purchase of Copeland School by Encore Music Theatre, there have been questions and concerns as to what will become of the Senior Center located in a wing of the school. Encore has maintained throughout the process that a deal will be worked out to keep the Senior Center in place.

The City of Dexter reports that Encore and the Senior Center have reached an agreement that the boards of both organizations have approved. In essence, the agreement assures that everything will remain the same for the Senior Center through December 31, 2020. Starting January 1, 2021, the Senior Center will only have access to the building from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. and will not be able to rent out their space since Encore will be using the space for evening events.

The agreement between the two parties lasts until December 31, 2023.

Central Street completion

The sidewalk cuts are almost finished curing and completion is expected sometime this week, weather permitting. The City will announce an opening date as soon as it has been determined.
