At age 83, passed away at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital in Ypsilanti, MI on April 20, 2018. He was surrounded by his loving wife and daughters.

Sheridan was born June 30, 1934, in Ann Arbor, MI, the son of Walter W. and Ruth (Forshee) Springer. Sheridan was raised in Ann Arbor.

He met Sallie Wilson, his wife to be, when he was 11 years old at Slauson Junior High School. They were high school sweethearts at Ann Arbor High School and were married on August 31, 1954.

Sheridan graduated from the University of Michigan with his business administration degree in 1956. He served as a commissioned officer in the United States Army from 1956-1958 in Frankfort, Germany. Sheridan and Sallie raised their family in Ann Arbor until 1976, when they relocated to North Lake where they currently reside.

Sheridan joined his father Walt, in the family business, Springer Insurance Agency, later Springer-Kleinschmidt Agency in Ann Arbor. He purchased a second insurance agency in Chelsea in 1975, which he sold in January 2016. He was a licensed insurance agent for 59 years.

Sheridan was active in many community service endeavors. He served on the Ann Arbor Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors, as President of the Ann Arbor Insurance Association, President of the Chelsea Chamber of Commerce, and Chairman of the Chelsea Downtown Development Authority. He also served on the Dexter Township Planning Commission and the Tax Board of Review for many years.

Sheridan joined the Kiwanis Club of Ann Arbor in January of 1960. He served as President of the Club in 1967. He was elected the Lieutenant Governor of Division 10 in 1971. “Sherry” as he was fondly known in Kiwanis, achieved the longest perfect attendance record in club history, at 58 years.

Sheridan and Sallie were long time members of the University of Michigan’s Victor’s Club and were season ticket holders for football, hockey and basketball for many years.

They also enjoyed traveling and achieved their bucket list item of visiting all seven continents. Sheridan and Sallie’s favorite get-a-way was Murph’s Camp, the deer hunting cabin in the Upper Peninsula. In recent years, they have enjoyed warm weather during the winter months in Pharr, TX.

Sheridan is survived by his adoring wife, Sallie W. Springer, his daughters, Sherrie Springer of Chelsea, MI, Shelly (Curt) Kessler of Springboro, OH and Shannon (David) Steinbach of North Lake, MI; his treasured grandchildren Sean and Tracy Steinbach, Katie, Mitchell and Julie Kessler, and Christopher Boyd; also nieces, nephews and cousins, and many dear friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his in-laws, Elgin “Bud” S. and Helen I. Wilson, his sister, Suzanne Springer Holland, and brother-in-law John M. Holland.

The family would like to acknowledge the wonderful care provided by Sheridan’s primary care physician and friend, Rebecca Patrias, MD.

The family received friends from 5-8:00 pm on Monday, April 23, 2018, at the Staffan-Mitchell Funeral Home, 901 North Main Street, Chelsea, MI 48118.

The Memorial Service Tuesday, April 24, 2018 from the First Congregational Church at 608 E. William Street, Ann Arbor, MI 48104. The Rev. Robert K. Livingston presided.
