The Dexter softball team used a big inning in the opener to propel the Dreadnaughts to a doubleheader sweep of Ann Arbor Skyline last week.

A big nine-run fifth inning blew open a close game as the Dreadnaughts took the opener 11-1.

Maddy Stroia allowed just two hits and struck out five on the mound for the win.

Emily Lance had three RBI and Livvy Mellifont two in the big fifth inning.

Both finished with two hits and three RBI for the game. Kristy Maitland and Alexis Haley added two hits and an RBI each.

The Dreads scored single runs in each of the first three innings to take a 3-0 lead and cruised to the 4-1 win behind the pitching of Taylor Wilson.

Wilson finished with seven strikeouts and allowed just three hits on the mound for the win.

Mellifont had two hits and two RBI to lead the offense. Maebel Robeson had two hits and scored two runs, while Maitland added two hits.

Dexter dropped a pair of games to SEC White leading Chelsea earlier in the week.

The Dreads dropped the opener 9-3 as the Bulldogs scored in each of the first four innings.

Sam Sutton had a hit and two RBI to lead the offense and struck out seven on the mound. Jenna Wagenschutz, Mellifont, and Lillie Robeson had two hits each for Dexter.

A big nine-run first inning doomed the Dreadnaughts in the second game. They fought back to cut the lead to 12-8, but the rally came up short as they fell 13-10.

Kylee Niswonger led the offense with two hits and five RBI. Wagenschutz had two hits and an RBI, Sutton two hits, Brenna Cassidy and Haley each a hit and RBI.
