Chelsea Area Festivals and Events (CAFE) announced changes in the Sounds and Sights on Thursday Nights summer line-up. The free summer concert series runs every Thursday, June 7 through August 16, 2018.
When the original schedule was set in March, Palmer Lot construction was on track to open in June. However, weather delays prolonged the process, and the stage-area will not be ready for the 2018 season.
“Our goal is to provide an outstanding experience for both the performers and the spectators,” said Craig Common, Committee Chair. “After considering the options, the committee decided to relocate July and August performers from the Palmer Lot stage to the Sylvan Stage.”
Located at 114 N. Main Street, the Sylvan Stage has previously been used as a Sounds and Sights stage and is preferred by many artists because of its acoustics. However, due to the construction on the Mack Building located next door, Sylvan is not available in June. CAFE will honor their commitment to the June performers by paying the bands they had to cancel, and are hoping to reschedule them if an opening becomes available on another stage.
“We are excited about the potential the Palmer Lot stage will add and think it will be a great asset for future events. The artists have been extremely positive and flexible about the changes,” said Common. “Please join us for the first Sounds & Sights on Thursday Nights on June 7!”
