The Dreadnaughts entered the game with the second longest winning streak in the state and now own a 25-5 overall record. Three of their losses are from out of state teams and the other two came to Rockford, the defending state champions and 2nd ranked team in the state.
This is a different Dexter team now and hopes are high for the state tournament that starts October 19.
Dexter started a bit slow against Walled Lake, but a pair of goals late in the first period broke a 1-1 tie and made it 3-1 after one.
The Dreadnaughts cruised from there.
Dexter scored five times in the second period and held Walled Lake to very few shots as the lead grew to 8-1 at the break.
Walled Lake cut the Dexter lead to 9-3, but after timeout, the Dreads scored the last three goals of the third period to take a 12-3 lead.
The Dreadnaughts put the game away with four more goals in the final period.
Eight different Dreads scored in the contest with Griffiths leading the way with five goals. Mitch Sterlitz added four goals, Gaetino two, Strang, Aiden Anderson, Sam Sterlitz, Ben Duncan, and Paul Schaeffer one goal each. Tony Golin did not face many shots in net, but he made a couple of big saves early when the game was close.
