Editor’s note: In its May 15, 2024, edition, the Sun Times News included a special “Discover Tecumseh” section. It contains articles describing many of the businesses and community life in this charming town. We’re running the articles online and encourage you to add a trip to Tecumseh to your list of fun things to do this summer.
Tecumseh Brewing Co., celebrating its ninth anniversary, embodies a unique blend of culinary innovation and community focus, according to its owner, Kyle Dewitt. Dewitt’s vision was to create a space that felt like an extension of one’s living room. “We wanted to make a place where it’s a community-centric first pub,” Dewitt explained, emphasizing the importance of creating a welcoming, family-friendly atmosphere.
The brewery is known for its commitment to freshness and originality, crafting both its food and beer onsite without any shortcuts. “There’s no cutting corners, no prepackaged anything, everything is fresh,” Dewitt stated. All menu items are prepared in-house. This approach extends to their weekly specials, a collaborative effort within the kitchen, allowing for a diverse range of seasonal dishes.
Moreover, Tecumseh Brewing Co. has expanded its culinary creativity through a food truck, offering a variety of themed menus from Indian to German, particularly during festivals like Oktoberfest. This initiative reflects their adaptive and inventive culinary practices, drawing directly from the ideas brewing in their main kitchen. “It’s all just concepts you just kind of come up with on the fly here,” said Dewitt, describing the dynamic and spontaneous nature of their menu development.
In addition to their innovative food offerings, Dewitt is committed to authenticity and quality. “You got to make it so that it has to be authentic to this place,” he remarked. “Everything served is distinctive and freshly prepared.” This dedication to craft and community engagement makes Tecumseh Brewing Co. a standout in its field, continually offering new and unique experiences to its patrons.
