Three Area Teams Qualify For State Football Playoffs

The area will be well represented when the MHSAA Football State Playoffs kick off this week as three teams qualified for the upcoming tournament.

SEC Red champion and SEC White co-champions Chelsea and Pinckney all found out Sunday night who their upcoming opponents will be.


In Division 1, Saline (7-1) will travel to Canton (8-1) Friday night at 7:00 PM. The winner will face Belleville (9-0) or Salem.


In Division 2, 8-1 Pinckney will host Livonia Churchill (7-2) Friday night at 7:00 PM. The winner will face the winner of 2016 state runner-up Walled Lake Western (8-1) or Livonia Franklin (7-2)


In Division 4, Chelsea (8-1) will host Milan (5-4) in rematch from week one at 7:00 PM Friday. The winner will face the winner of River Rouge (7-2) and Flat Rock (7-2). The Bulldogs are the Number one seed in the region and could host up to three games if they were to keep winning.

Other SEC teams two qualify were Ypsilanti Lincoln, Tecumseh, and Bedford.
