The Chelsea City Council unanimously approved a special event permit for Witches Night Out, an event organized by Wines on Main on Oct. 10, that will use the parking lot behind the 1st Congregational Church from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m.

Stephanie Moran, one of the organizers for Witches Night Out, was on hand at the meeting to explain the event and take any questions from council.

Moran told council with the permit secured that they would be notifying tenants and users of the lot that space would be closed well in advance of the Thursday event.

Witches Night Out is a shopping event at the shops throughout downtown from 6 to 8:30 p.m., at the conclusion of the event the parking lot will be used for the grand finale event from 8:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. Moran told council a dance troupe will be coming to do a “witchy Halloween themed dance.”

In addition to the dance troupe, Halloween specialties like s’mores will be available and the Chelsea Depot is being rented out and will be filled with vendors with Halloween themed items.

After the shopping event, Moran said those at the event will head to the Victorian Inn for a meet and greet/afterglow.
